Unlock PDF

Remove the password from a PDF you have the password for, so it opens anywhere without asking.

How to remove a password from a PDF

  1. Drop your password-protected PDF onto the box above, or click it to choose it.
  2. Type the PDF’s password. If the PDF opens without a password but won’t let you print or edit, leave the box empty.
  3. Click “Unlock PDF”. A copy without the password downloads, ready to open, print, or edit anywhere.

Everything happens in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, and closing the tab clears it all.

Questions

Can this remove a password I don’t know?

No. You need the password that opens the PDF. The tool removes it so you don’t have to type it every time. PDFs that open without a password but block printing or editing can be unlocked without one.

Is my password or PDF sent anywhere?

No. The PDF is decrypted in your browser, on your device. We never see the file or the password.

Is it legal to unlock a PDF?

Only unlock PDFs that you own or have permission to change, such as your own bank statements or documents sent to you with the password.
