How to convert an image to JPG, PNG, or WebP

Questions

Which format should I pick?

JPG works everywhere and is best for photos. PNG keeps transparency and is best for screenshots, logos, and graphics with sharp edges. WebP makes the smallest files and works in all modern browsers and most apps.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas become white. Choose PNG or WebP to keep them transparent.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser converts the images on your device, so they never leave your computer or phone.

Is photo location data kept?

No. Converting redraws the image, so camera details and GPS location stored in the original file are not copied to the new one.
