JPG to Word

Turn a photo or screenshot of text into a Word document you can edit.

How to convert a JPG to an editable Word document

  1. Drop photos or screenshots of text onto the box above: a page of a book, a letter, a receipt, a whiteboard. JPG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC all work.
  2. Pick the language of the text. Add a second language if the text mixes two.
  3. Choose whether to include the original pictures in the document as well.
  4. Click “Convert to Word”. The editable .docx file downloads when the text has been read.

Everything happens in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, and closing the tab clears it all.

Questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Text recognition (OCR) runs inside your browser, on your device. The first time, your browser downloads the recognition engine and language from this site (a few MB); your images are never sent anywhere.

How accurate is it?

Clear, straight photos of printed text in good light are usually read almost perfectly. Handwriting, curved pages, and small or blurry text are harder. Always check important names and numbers.

Can I get the text without a Word file?

Yes. Use Extract text (OCR) to see the text on screen, copy it, or save it as a plain text file.
